Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Because Emmanuel , God with us, the Christ child,
the King of Kings did come and we are eternally thankful. It is a day set
aside at our house to celebrate His Coming and tell others
what great things He
has done for us. It is a time to share His Love
by sharing gifts with loved ones. Giving gifts reminds each of us of the first
Christmas gift – Jesus. It is a time to decorate
the
house with ornaments that remind of us Jesus and how He changed history. It is
a time to hang lights to remind us that Jesus
is the Light of the world. It is a day to remember, a day to reflect and a day
to rest. We love Christmas at our house. It is one of
our most wonderful days
of the year.

How do I choose a present for loved ones?
One of the most fun parts of celebrating Christmas
is giving gifts. Choosing the perfect present
can be a little challenging at
times, but here are a few suggestions to make choosing a present easier.
First, the most important thing is think. Sound
simple? Seriously, think about
who the recipient is, what they like, what they
might need, what you know about them, and
what would
be special to them.
Second, shop. Search for that special present in unusual and unlikely
places
when you are
in town running errands, surfing
the web or travelling across country.
Find something that will touch the heart
of the person
you are choosing a gift for that
can
become a cherished treasure.
Third, be creative. Is it possible to handcraft the gift or
maybe
the wrapping
paper? Write a poem to go on the name tag? Add
a decorated cookie or candy
cane as a decoration
on the package? Give a little
of yourself and it will help make the present
even more special.
Last, give the gift of time to go
with your present. Set aside some time
when
you give your present to enjoy it together
and enjoy each other. Christmas
is about
making memories. One of the greatest
presents you can give is your time. Happy Shopping
and Merry Christmas!

Should I send a Christmas card, letter or email?
Yes, please! One of our Christmas traditions is to
display Christmas cards, letters and emails
from friends. What a reminder
of all the relationships and special memories we have to be
thankful for. Each
day we pray for friends and family who are
hanging around the room.
