Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on Thee:
because he trusteth in Thee.
Isaiah 26:3

Life in the Womb

Your pregnancy is the setting for one of the greatest miracles of all time.
The development of a new person is truly amazing.
As you read this small glimpse of what is happening inside your womb,
may you stand in awe of the Master Creator's love and care for you and your baby.

First Month
On the 21st day after conception, your baby’s heart is beating. By day 30 your baby’s arms, legs eyes and ears have begun to show. Your baby has already grown 10,000 times larger than the original fertilized egg. On day 35 his
tiny fingers can be discerned in his hand. Your baby is already a well-developed little person before you ever know
you are pregnant.

Second Month
Your baby is a little more than an inch long. His liver and kidneys are functioning, his stomach produces digestive juices, and his nervous system and 40 sets of muscles begin to operate. His jaw, teeth buds and gums form this month. Everything that will be found in a fully developed adult is now present in your baby. If you could touch your baby,
he would respond to your touch. His heart has been beating for more than a month now.
By the ninth week fingerprints are evident in his tiny fingers, and he will curl his fingers around an object placed in his hand. By day 40 his brain waves can be detected and recorded. This month is probably when you first found out you
were pregnant.

Third Month
Your baby has doubled in length since last month. He is now over two inches long and his muscle movements are becoming coordinated. He turns his head, curls his toes, and closes his mouth. Hair begins to grow on his body.

Forth Month
Your baby has gone through a major growth spurt this last month. He is now eight to ten inches long and weighs
half a pound or more. You areprobably starting to show at this point. Your baby's ears are functioning and there is evidence that he can hear your voice, your heartbeat, and external noises at this point. The umbilical cord transports
300 quarts of fluid per day and completes a round-trip of fluids every 30 seconds.

Fifth Month
Half of your pregnancy is now passed. Your baby is 12 inches long. You should feel your baby's movements this month. He may jump in reaction to a loud noise.

Sixth Month
Your baby's oil and sweat glands are functioning now. If your baby was born this month, he could survive with proper care. His senses, lungs, antibodies, skin, and other functions are still being developed and fine-tuned but the basic functions
are operational with special care.

Seventh Month
Your baby uses his sense of vision, hearing, taste and touch this month. He is also able to recognize your voice.
His little body is continually being fine-tuned and developed.

Eighth Month
Your baby's skin begins to thicken this month. His body is storing up a layer of fat underneath his skin for insulation
and nourishment. His antibodies are building up to enable him to remain healthy once he is born. The amniotic fluid is completely replaced every three hours.

Ninth Month
Your baby is almost ready to come into the world. As you eagerly wait these final weeks, remember that although your baby can easily survive if he is born this month, every day in your womb is a precious gift to him. Each day the Master Creator is polishing and perfecting every part of your baby. Each day your body is skillfully enabling your baby
to develop all his functions to their maximum potential. His ability to resist sickness and disease, his sensitivity to allergens, and many other important functions are perfected in the final weeks of pregnancy. Although it can seem
all the "important" development is finished, these final weeks are giving your baby a gift that will last his lifetime.
