Mark 9:50            We Are Salt
"Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another." Mark 9:50

Why did Jesus choose salt? Salt is white, has its own taste, yet enhances other tastes, and if
put in the ground nothing will grow where it is. How then can we as Christians have it in
ourselves? I think the answer is easy. To be like salt, we should always be striving to keep
our hearts white and pure. We should be in the world but not of it. We should try to plant God’s Word in people's hearts so deeply that the devil’s seeds cannot grow. I believe if we will stay in
the Word, then we can keep our salt "salty," and, if we do, have peace with one another.

Mark 13:35-36            The Forgotten Commission
"Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping."                                                                                                                                                             Mark 13:35-36

As Christians we are often reminded of the Great Commission to go into all world and preach the
gospel, but how often do we hear of this Staying Awake Commission? Our commission is to watch and not be found sleeping. It seems this commission has been forgotten by many Christians. We may ask ourselves how do I fulfill this commission? One way to fulfill it is by staying in the Word. If we read, believe and memorize the Word, then we will not be sleeping.
God will give us something that will keep us awake. If we read, believe, and memorize the Word, then we will be watching for his returning. God will give us a keen desire for that to occur. If we read, believe, and memorize the Word, then satan will not be able to cast a wool over our eyes, blurring our vision and putting us to sleep. Christian, the time is now. We cannot continue to
keep this Staying Awake Commission in the forgotten archives. It is time to bring it into the light and to do as it says.

Mark 14:27            Trust God Not Man
"And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of Me this night: for it is written,
I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered."
Mark 14:27

H
ow often we see the sheep scattered in our culture today. At Mount N we are so saddened to see how often a church falls apart when a pastor, or church leader of any kind, falls to a sin. The congregation forgets that everyone, including their ministry leaders, is mortal and that they can and will fail. Instead, they choose to become angry and blame God for man's sin. Christians,
we are making a terrible mistake. God can not and does not sin, nor does He cause man to sin. Instead of putting our trust in man, we need to put our trust in God. We can be assured man
can and will fall. When he does, we should not let that shake our faith in Christ. On the contrary, when a man falls, it should make us pray more fervently for him and for ourselves. We need to pray that we will resist the devil when our hour of temptation comes. Christians, we are to be an example to the unbeliever. We must not let one man or women’s sin shake our own
determination to be like Christ. We have to remember no matter what anyone else may say or
do, God is trustworthy. We must trust God, not man.
