Luke 5:4
Launch Into The Deep
"Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the
deep, and let down
your nets for a draught." Luke 5:4
Simon obeyed Jesus and he and the men with
him caught so many fish that their net’s broke
and their ships started to sink because of the weight of them. I believe the
Christian walk is
very like this. Sometimes, Jesus will tell us to go into the deep waters, the
foreboding places of life. We are often intimidated and sometimes give excuses
why we should not have to go. Yet,
if we will ignore our forebodings, we will find that sometimes those things that
most intimidate
us can hold the richest harvest. So launch out into the deep, and trust God to
help you. NEN
Luke 6:46
The Real Deal
"And why call ye Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"
Luke 6:46
Unfortunately, this verse seems to descibe an epidemic among Christians
today. People go to church,
claim to be Christians, and then follow almost none of the rules God has given. Not
only does this behavior hurt our testimony, but it also hurts God’s.
Because of this, instead of people being drawn to Christianity, they are pushed
away. There are a lot of people who feel Christians are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.
Sadly, more often than not, it proves to be true. Christians, we must turn this
around. We have shirked our duty long enough. We may not know when Jesus is
coming again, but we do know He is coming. When He comes, we do not want
to be a
person who has called Him, Lord, and not done what He has commanded. We need a
revival in this world, but how can we expect revival to come when all the world
sees are
hypocrites. Christianity is not a band wagon. There is no
such thing as a “God Card” to use to help you secure clients, gain the support
of the conservatives or give you an undeserved amount
of trust. It is a
relationship with Jesus Christ that changes us from the inside out. Unless we
get that through our heads, revival
will not come. People are not searching for someone just like them. They
are searching for someone different. They do not want the fake “like the world.”
They want the real deal, the true Christian, the one who tries to be like
Christ. They want the one who no matter what the consequences, is willing to
stand up for what he or she believes. Are you a real Christian? Or, are you just
another hypocrite that says, Lord, Lord, but does not obey?
Dear God, help me be the real deal.
